It all started with a boy that grew up in a small town called Santa Helena in Brazil. Arri Coser was raised his entire life on a ranch that had traditions in his culture. One of the more important traditions was the preparation of food; particularly their meat. Fogo de Chao is a Gaucho’s way of saying, “fire of ground”. This phrase refers to how Gaucho’s used to prepare their meat. They set up various meat such as steak, chicken, lamb and pork around a circle of fire of wood. This tradition is inspired by the friends and family of the farms of Southern Brazil. They also would have seasonal salads, fresh vegetables, and artisan bread.
Fogo de Chao is a chain restaurant that has 35 location spreaded across the United States. There is luckily one located in Santana Row. The first time I ate at this restaurant was during my mother’s birthday. It was our first time there so we didn’t know there was going to be a huge waiting line for this place. This is my tip to the people interested in going here to make reservations if you ongoing! The first thing you see in the restaurant is this nice display that had hundreds of wine. Then, as you go deeper inside the restaurant, you see a huge salad bar with soup, lobsters, drinks, fruits, vegetables, and salad. Once I found out the salad bar was free, I took advantage and took everything! Afterwards, my family and I were seated and these Brazilian men were holding sticks that had meat to serve to you. They politely offered me if I wanted the meat they had. Of course I said yes because I looovee food! The gentleman but the stick over my plate and cut a piece of meat onto it. As soon as I bit into the meat, I knew that I had to try all the other meat because it was so good. Overall, I would recommend this restaurant to people who are meat lovers.
