By Itzel Hammer Peggy Sue’s is a 1950’s inspired themed diner, that sell breakfast, lunch and dinner. There well known for their hamburgers, fries and shakes. The original Peggy Sue’s was opened in 1954, but later on had multiple remodelings. There was different owners who had the same vision of a 50’s themed diner who all named there diners “Peggy Sue’s” based off of the original but none seem to be connected there all there own individual diner. The Peggy Sue’s in San Jose is located on 29 North San Pedro Street there open Sunday through thursday from 8am to Midnight and Saturdays and Fridays from 8 am to 2am . The diners vision is to give their customers a great environment, great prices and great food which at least to me they clearly have succeeded in all of those. The diner really does give you a 50’s feel. When walking in you have your classic juke box and sit in booths. There walls are covered in posters and stickers from previous artist and sports teams. They even have their own creative names for their burgers such as the “Hollywood burger” or “The Hot rod”. To top it off there is 50’s music that you can jam to in the background. I was definitely enjoying my stay there. My friend and I were singing along to the main songs and enjoying our surroundings. I think what made us like our experience there was that it was completely different to other places like In N Out or Mcdonalds because it was all new to us and there isn’t much themed restaurants here in San Jose, there all pretty plain and don’t have that extra bit of fun that Peggy Sue’s has. When ordering my food the first thing that I saw was a classic hamburger with avocado, which is my favorite kind of burger. So i ordered the “Hollywood burger” with a side of sweet potato fries and an apple juice. The hamburger had your basic ingredients lettuce, cheese, meat and with half of an avocado nicely sliced. What really made the hamburger really good was how well melted the cheese was melted onto the meat and how well toasted the bread was. The sweet potato fries were very sweet and crispy how they're supposed to be. I went into Peggy Sue’s thinking that i was just going to get a regular burger with fries, which is exactly what i got but the quality of the burger definitely made me realize that it was more than just another burger place. It might be just a little bit more pricier by about 3-4 dollars than other burger places but it's definitely worth the price.
