![]() By: Alexa Rizo One of the two most popular and known coffee places would be Starbucks and Peet’s coffee. These two coffee places are very used to just grab a breakfast meal and your coffee for the morning, and many students that are in high school or college would usually bring their computers and study for a while. These two places could be very similar in many ways such as their price and even the taste of the coffee, the only difference would be location or the company name. The history of Starbucks is that Starbucks was first opened in Seattle, Washington, on March 31, 1971. It was opened by three partners who all study at the University of San Francisco, the three students were turned, teachers. The three teachers where Jerry Baldwin an English teacher, Zev Siegl a history teacher, and lastly Gordon Bowker a writer where all inspired to sell high-quality coffee beans. The logo was found as something that represented as the history of its city, Heckler went over old marine books until he had come up with the logo based on an old 16th-century Norse woodcut, a two-tailed mermaid. The came up with the name by the first-mate of the whale-ship Pequod, the ship in Moby Dick. Many people do enjoy Starbucks for most of the part, but others have different opinions with it. According to freshman student named Julia said that “when I go to Starbucks I always get a strawberry acai and vanilla bean frappe because I like how it has so much taste and the pieces of strawberries that comes with it.” This demonstrates that the coffee from Starbucks is very refreshing and tasty to drink on a hard day to cheer you up. According to another freshman student named Marcos said that “when I go to Starbucks I get a Caramel Frappuccino always because it's really good and it's not too sweet to drink.” This illustrates that there could many options to pick in Starbucks that could be very tasty and good to drink. One sophomore I interviewed said that she has only, “drank Starbucks one time,” and she ordered a mango-passion tea and says, “ it was really refreshing and was cool to try it, but I don't think I would be likely to order it again because I could have made at home.” The history of Peet's coffee is that Peet's coffee is a San Francisco Bay Area-based in a coffee roaster and retailer. It was founded in 1996 by Alfred Peet in Berkeley, California, Peet’s introduced the United States to its darker roasted Arabica coffee with a french toast aside. The named of the place was found by the name of Alfred Peet which represents his name. Other people would casually enjoy drinking Peet's coffee every day instead of Starbucks because it might be closer to them or just like the flavor more. According to a junior student said that “the flavor of Peet's coffee is an interesting taste to the mouth because sometimes it makes you feel in some kind of way”. This clearly demonstrates how people really look for the flavor in these coffees. The flavor does really mean to people and mostly for the caffeine people that are obsessed with drinking coffee every day of their lives. Many people have their different opinions within both coffee shops, in some points, people won’t like the flavors or taste of the coffee. According to a freshman student, Ernesto said that “I’ve tried the Caramel Frappe, it wasn't bad but it had a very strong taste of coffee which I am not a big fan of.” This demonstrates that others wouldn’t like it because of the strong flavor that it contains. According to another freshman student said that “sometimes the flavors could be off and sometimes I just hate when they get your name wrong”. This also illustrates that the flavors are something very important for many people. Some main differences and similarities between the two coffee shops are things such as the prices and menu. For example Peet's coffee centers around coffee. Expresso, and a few tea/ no caffeine products. Meanwhile, Starbucks includes baked goods and more smoothie/ flavored tea than Peets. Overall, people have different opinions of their coffee’s and sometimes they want their coffee to just be as perfect including their names. They would all be different that maybe people like Starbucks, but others prefer Peet's coffee. ![]() By: Yamileth Altamirano Who doesn’t love Starbucks, so many choices of different flavors, but you always know that there will be overall favorites, and I’m here to tell you what they are. So the Starbucks drink that takes spot #5 is Strawberry Açai Refresher! This drink is especially great to get at summer with its refreshing strawberry taste Ice, Strawberry Acai Base [Water, Sugar, White Grape Juice Concentrate, Natural Flavors, Citric Acid, Natural Green Coffee Flavor, Fruit And Vegetable Juice, Rebaudioside-a], Water, Freeze-dried Strawberries. ![]() And the 4th place goes to also one my favorites it’s the pink drink! The pink is Made with Starbucks' Strawberry Acai Refresher, the beverage has a tiny bit of caffeine thanks to some green coffee extract. Instead of water, it's mixed with coconut milk to add the shade of pink that makes it so Instagrammable. And let's not forget the chunks of fresh strawberries and blueberries that adds to its fruity flavor. The pink drink is just a flavor of what spring is, yet is great to drink all year long. ![]() And coming in 3rd place is the Salted Caramel Mocha! The Salted Caramel has Mocha sauce and toffee nut syrup are combined with coffee and milk, then topped with sweetened whipped cream, caramel drizzle and a blend of turbinado sugar and sea salt. It is best in fall with it’s sugary yet salty at the same time. ![]() And the drink that takes spot #2 is the snickerdoodle hot chocolate! The Snickerdoodle Hot Cocoa. Snickerdoodle Hot Cocoa is a delicious and rich twist on hot chocolate. This easy holiday drink is a perfect winter treat for all ages. Flavored with cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla and topped with cinnamon sugar whipped cream, this decadent dessert drink tastes just like a snickerdoodle cookie! ![]() And the drink that takes spot #1 is also one of my favorites and it's the peppermint mocha. It is holiday classic made with our signature espresso, steamed milk, sweet mocha sauce, and peppermint-flavored syrup. It's all topped off with whipped cream and dark chocolate curls. I wanted to get some people opinions because I know that the drinks that I listed are everyone’s favorite and everyone has their own way they want their drink. I asked Cesar Chavez a freshman at KSJC what his favorite Starbucks drink was and he said, “I like the camel mocha upside down with extra caramel, and I also like the Double chocolate frappe”. I then asked another freshman what his favorite Starbucks drink was and Albertico Carrera said, “Well I don’t really like Starbucks but one drink that I think looks pretty good is the pink drink”. I also asked a Sophomore named Bryan and he said his favorite Starbucks drink was the Strawberry acai which is one of the drinks that I listed on my list.I also asked Jorge Perez a freshman at KSJC and he said, “I don’t get Starbucks a lot but when I do my go to is the peppermint mocha, but I would like to try the pink drink it just looks like it tastes good” I also asked Jose Luis also a freshman what his favorite Starbucks drink was and he said , “i get the strawberry acai refresher but I like to put lemonade in that stuff is bomb!, and the vanilla bean is also really good, and I also like to get the caramel frap”. And from what I have seen everyone has their favorite Starbucks drink and I myself like most of the drinks in that I listed and I also agree with everyone’s choices too, but overall right now I think many people are going to go for the cold and refreshing drinks since summer it pretty much just around the corner, and spring is on its way too! And there you have it the top 5 Best Starbucks drink that you can get,I hope that you enjoyed it. ![]() Wingstop is a restaurant chain that specializes in wings and is aviation-themed. Wingstop has about 7 locations in San Jose, but more in neighboring cities like Milpitas and Santa Clara, etc. Wingstop is a popular restaurant among many teens and adults. My visit to Wingstop was a fairly pleasant one, with nothing too exciting. I ordered my food on wingstop.com, and I got the 10 piece combo, which included 10 boneless wings, large seasoned fries, and a 20oz soft drink. The total was $13.97, including tax, which was a fairly reasonable price, considering all the food they give you. The website told me the order would be ready in 20-25 minutes, so I waited 15 minutes, and proceeded to drive there, and sure enough, the food was ready. The only problem I had with the entire experience was how they didn’t have a beverage option in the store, though it was shown as an option online. However, that is just a minor problem. As previously stated, I got 10 boneless “Hickory Smoked BBQ” wings, large fries, and a 20oz Coke. The wings were nice and tender, though there were some that had a bit too much breading, which meant less chicken. The pieces were about twice the size of a store-bought chicken nuggets, and ten times as good. The barbeque sauce was had a sweet hint to it, but was also fairly spicy. It paired great with Coke to wash it down. The fries were amazing, with a seasoning that tasted great. I had never tried fries like that before, but were surprisingly good. I will definitely visit again, and as Adrian’s review score, he gives this restaurant a solid 7/10. I’ve been to this place many times before, and it has never failed to fill me up with a good lunch. I would strongly recommend this to my friends and family, and anyone who has been decisive on what to order. |
