#50 San Jose, CA Are you tired of fast food? Soggy low quality burgers? Rude fast food employees mad at you for their lame job? Lucky for you I have the perfect restaurant that is utterly opposite of the typical burger place. Ever heard about SmashBurger? This hip place is the food paradise for burger fanatics! QUALITY OVER QUANTITY seems to be their motto at SmashBurger since their burgers are made with never frozen meat and only the freshest ingredients. Have you felt oppressed by the menu options at a regular burger joint such as at IN-N-OUT? Can I create-my-own option? Well at SmashBurger there is always the option to create-your-own burgers! No matter whether you order from the menu or create-your-own, you are always guaranteed to a great tasting, juicy burger in every bite! When I visited SmashBurger last Saturday I was stuck between the Bacon Cheese Burger or the Avocado Club Chicken, but with great help of an employee I decided the Bacon Cheeseburger and Spicy Buffalo fries with an Oreo Milkshake on the side. Once my burger had arrived the aroma of the Bacon Cheeseburger had me reach for it first. After the first bite I knew there was no other burger like it, the smoked bacon on a egg bun made this burger so tasteful. As for the Spicy Buffalo fries had been dry seasoned with Franks “Red Hot” and although by the name it seemed very appealing, to my flavorings they tasted very dry and had me coughing due to the dry seasoning. But overall from personal experience and taste quality at SmashBurger I rate it a 9/10. So go on and taste for yourself! If you don’t believe me, hear it from a KSJC peer… “ Smash burger shakes hands down are so good, I've been there about 3 times and each time my meal has been delicious and savory, the chicken is so crispy.“ -Jasmine Del Real “The avocado chicken burger is to die for! Not to mention their fries are so crispy and you are able to add different flavors to them which is rare! My favorite is the buffalo fries seriously the best! “ - Judie Apolinar By: Mark Perez Location: 5205 Prospect Ave ,San Jose, CA 95129 Price Range: $5-$8 Ever get tired of eating In n out? The burger people claim to be the best burger? Well they’re wrong. There is a burger which is so much better and you won’t get tired of eating it anytime soon. The selection is a simple as In n out’s but with a little more creativity. ![]() As you can see from the menu the burgers are pretty simple to order from. You have from the selection of hamburger, cheeseburger, bacon, burgers, bacon cheeseburger and the "little" versions of each of those burger. Do not be fooled through, the "little" is not intended to mean that it is a kid sized burger. The only difference is that a "little" has one patty instead of two. They give you the selection to choose your toppings instead of saying what you don’t want which makes it a lot easier to order.
Their fries are ridiculous. They can feed up to two people and they taste great. They are cooked in peanut oil which is consider to be very good and healthy for you so you have nothing to worry about unless you worry about calories. One person could finish them alone depending on how hungry they are. They are also cut and cooked on sight not like a McDonalds in which they keep them frozen.-- BY Leslie Lozano Where: VietNam Town
989 Story Rd, Ste 8039 East San Jose, CA. Price Range: $1.50 - $15.00 Have you ever driven by the little Vietnam shopping center on Story Rd. ? Ever wonder what is even in there? Well luckily your girl (me) has done the work for you! In search of some mochi and delicious macaroons I was led to The Sweet Corner! The adorable decor is the first thing you notice right when you walk in, chalk board walls with fascinating designs and bright photos of Paris. The extensive menu choices consist of beverages and snacks that will satisfy your slushie, yogurt, tea, milk tea, dessert, needs. Let me just say the mochi is AMAZING from vanilla, peanut butter, to mint chocolate mochi. The macaroons are fairly delicious but too tiny and a tad bit pricey, but the BOMB mochi made up for it. The ambiance was filled with great music choices such as Two Door Cinema Club, to Zedd. As well as the service was great; helpful, and friendly baristas helped me decide what I wanted to order. I had the Mint Chip Smoothie with whip cream and it was great. Whenever I try something new the person with me must order something different, so my participant had the Four Berry smoothie. The Four Berry smoothie tasted very which I really did enjoy. With a very short wait on a Saturday afternoon, and the weather wasn't hot as a sauna, so that totally made me give this place a gold star. This is the perfect place for a boba run, a treat after a girls day, or for all you young fellas out there looking for great places to take your lady on a date. It is seriously a must to go to Sweet Corner soon! By: Mark Perez ![]() Ever heard of carne asada fries before? Well they’re just plain delicious! Its the perfect combination of carne asada and french fries. You would not believe how good they are. It has cheese on top but you can’t really taste the cheese and it comes with cream and guacamole and tomatoes. I personally just get them with cream because I don’t like guacamole nor tomatoes. They are also mildly spicy so beware. You can get some at Santa Fe, Chavez, and Iguanas for around $6 which is great deal for the amount of fries and meat you are getting especially considering how good they taste. All of these places sell the carne asada fries for around the same amount of money, the only thing that changes are the way they are structured. In Santa Fe they just put the fries with cheese and carne asada and then they mix the cream, tomato, and guacamole whereas in Chavez’s version of carne asada fries they mix the fries and the carne asada but then the put three separate rows of guacamole, tomato, and cream. Iguanas is basically the same as Santa Fe but they put it in an extra ingredient, nacho sauce! The nacho sauce actually adds a bit of flavor that will get mix reviews. I personally like the nacho cheese but Leslie Lozano does not like them with nacho cheese and prefers them at santa fe. My personal favorite is the Twix MIlkshake, not all Quickly’s carry this drink but luckily the Quickly in Eastridge does. Everyone enjoys Quickly! Don’t believe me? Here it is from your KSJC peers.. “Mango Snow is seriously the most greatest thing on their menu! With the add-on of pearls!
