By Juliette Yanez On August 16, 2015 , Donald Trump announced his plans about what he is gonna do with immigrants once he becomes president. He believes that the immigrants that come here are Rapist , Criminals , and that they only bring drugs. He believes that Mexico is sending it’s bad people only and he plans on stopping that. On Sunday August 16, 2015 he announced that he is planning on getting rid of the dream act. The dream act is an act that allows immigrant students who grew up in the US to be temporally legal while they finish school, and once they go to college or serve in the army then they will be able to become legal citizens. But if Donald Trump takes this away all of these students will not be able to finish their education here and would have to get deported. He is also getting rid of the birthright citizenship. This means that the people who are legal because they were born here will no longer be legal and would be considered illegal immigrants. But not many people agree with him. Many believe that he is being unfair in only targeting mexican immigrants when there is many other immigrants from different races. I asked students here about what they thought about Donald Trump and his plans for illegal immigrants. Here is what some students had to say: “I Think it’s unfair of Donald Trump to deport mexican immigrants because people come here to feed their families. And mostly immigrants do the dirty jobs that people like Donald Trump wouldn't even consider working in.”-anonymous. Another person said “ My opinion on Donald Trump and his plans are that it’s unfair to everyone. His own wife is an immigrant. People come here for a better life and he’s ruining that for them” - Evelyn S. And finally Another student said that “ My opinion on Donald Trump in that he is an im*****l . He doesn't know what he’s doing by generalizing the entire Latino race. He put his opinion before anyone else’s and should think twice before he goes on national television and says things that could get him targeted or even killed. His plans for America are unthoughtful and he won’t be able to do it because many latinos have worked hard to build a foundation for themselves and their families.”- Citlalli H. These are all good point that they make. So the next question is, how realistic is Donald Trump’s immigration plan? For example Donald said he want to build a big wall along the southern border and make Mexico pay for it. But wouldn't that be hard considering that it's about 1,989 miles long and the rough terrain plus all the private property rights. Plus would Mexico really pay for the wall considering that it wasn’t even their idea to begin with?. Plus according to a Pew Hispanic Center study they found out that 11 million immigrants in the US are illegal. How is Donald going to deport that many people? It’s impossible. Plus he said that once all illegal immigrants are deported he was only going to let the good people back in. But how is he suppose to know which ones are the good people and which ones are the bad ones.? He can't know. So it looks like his immigration plans aren't so realistic after all. Overall Donald Trump’s plan for immigrants is really flawed. Not many people seem to agree with him. And his actual plan has so many flaws like building a wall and deporting 11 million people.
