It’s time for some final thoughts. By definition one who is a celebrity, is considered to be a famous person. To the minds of many they these people receive tons of admiration from others based on what they do. For most of the time, they are in the spotlight doing whatever they are known and admired for. However, Sometimes people tend for forget the obvious idea, these people are celebrities to the eyes of many of us ultimately they are citizens of this country and have the right to participate and get involved in whatever they'll want to like a true citizen of this country. Besides hearing from politicians giving their opinions, I think that others should truly hear celebrities out when it comes to politics because their opinions are usually insightful and worth hearing. Celebrities in the eyes of the radical conservative republicans they are just celebrities to them and shouldn’t even think have an involvement in politics whatsoever. A recent example of the radical conservative republicans criticizing a celebrity was when San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick decided to take a political stance by protesting the national anthem due to bring awareness to the on going issue of police brutality in this divided country. Colin didn’t hurt anyone nor did damage while he was protesting, all he intended to was inform to the rest of us that the US isn’t what it says that it is. In terms of the response of his actions it was split about 50-50, many people including myself appreciate what he did and it made us truly understand the message that he wanted to get across to others. Then, there was thoughs who didn’t by his protest at all, they all had the same excuses on what he was wrong. The first excuse that they made was that his actions were considered an “un american” thing to do. To his critics it seems that as citizens shouldn’t expose the evil and horrible things about the US, as they must buy into the US’ ideals. Ok, I would like to know, what exactly is the right way to speak up in the American? If you are seen marching in streets people are going to think that you are a thug and if your are seen going to a protest people are going to think that you are at a riot. Doesn’t the first amendment talk about the idea freedom of speech? Think about that for a moment. The second excuse that they made was that Colin was bringing politics in a place that politics should be involved in. What these excuses due is that they make one not be aware on what is actually happening. Colin knew that something was wrong and he wasn’t going to let the situation get worse. So speaking out was a necessary thing to do. I understand that there shouldn’t be a crossover with sports and politics but especially during these troubled times we need to know about what is actually going on in this world and that is exactly what Kaepernick did. In brief, Celebrities are ultimately people that should make their own decisions and not let others influenced them to believe in ideals that they might not believe in. Celebrities seem to get attention for specific reasons from others. If they start being more involved with the political issues that the US is facing they are able to get their message across and be a great influence for their fans in a positive way. Who knows maybe celebrities speaking out may give them a new career to look forward to once they are done with their current career. And those are my final thoughts.
