KSJC Girls basketball season has officially started. They work hard during their practices but work just as hard during their games. The girls JV team has a total of 13 games this season for now. As of now they have played against 2 schools and unfortunately lost, although that does not bring them down and the team is working hard and improving. They stay persistent and they don’t give up when things seem like it’s going downhill. There are many expectations for being in JV and staying in JV. Starting with having to maintain a GPA and not failing any classes. Also, good sportsmanship and controlling yourself if something doesn’t seem right. Including playing by the rules, no cheating of any sort. If one of the girls on the team are not passing any classes the coach will have a conversation with them and see what steps need to be taken to figure the situation out. The girls on the team are improving and getting through their struggles to win a game. During their practices, they try different things and see how they feel about it and if they feel confident doing that play during the game. Each Junior Varsity team member has their own thing they need to work on but they all work together to help each other improve. Together they not only help each other but they start to build bonds with one another. Katelyn, the point guard for the Junior Varsity, was interviewed. She was asked, “Was it hard making it on the team?”, with her response being, “A lot of work during tryouts, the harder you work the more likely you will play.” Also, continuing the interview she was asked what the expectations are, her response being “We have 3 values, Sisterhood, Persistence, Excellence… at the very end of the game we give shoutouts to each other.” In Conclusion, the Girl’s Junior Varsity team works hard. They stay persistent, never give up. And most importantly they build bonds and support each other. Even if they don’t win that doesn’t bring them down, if anything they work harder and improve. The Girl’s Junior Varsity is a strong team and hard-working.
