On October 28th , KSJC hosted their fall dance, which was also considered a rave. The dance started at 7:30 and ended at 10:30 on friday at C-Commons in Independence. Although not many students went, the music was good and it was very fun. I can’t speak on other people’s opinions of the dance, but it all depends on what was made of the dance. Many students were dancing the whole time and had a fun time, so they stated that the dance was great. There were a few students that were not from KSJC that went with their friends that do go here and they also said it was a fun event. The dance was a good way to spend friday night after a stressful week of school and allowed students to just have fun.
Some songs played were El Caballo Dorado, of course, Feeling Myself, Cupid Shuffle, and many others that were easy to dance to. The dance floor was at it’s fullest when Cupid Shuffle and El Caballo Dorado played, since both songs have a specific routine to them that most people know. The dance was mainly freshmen and sophomores, but there were some teacher who were supervising the dance. The teachers also had a lot of fun dancing with the students and singing. Mr.Monagle and Mr. Solinski had a duet in the middle of the room to Wrecking Ball by Miley Cyrus, which was a jaw-dropper! Mr.Monagle would drop himself to the ground and act like he had a microphone meanwhile Mr.Solinski was singing the duet with him. Many students crowded around and created a circle around them, enjoying the show. Many people put it on snapchat, too, which was really funny to see once I got home. At school, many people said they would not go to the dance because it was going to be boring and because other people weren’t going. These students were comparing this dance to last years, which let’s be honest, was not very fun. This year, the dance was good and played songs that everyone can dance to. Not many people preordered the ticket because of their expectation of the dance, but ended up going because they were available. Once they went, some students admitted not wanting to go, but ended up surprised since they had a lot of fun compared to what they were thinking the dance was going to be like. The dance was more like a rave, which was very engaging and they had many glow sticks for the students who arrived. Each student had about 2 or 3 glowsticks. The wall also had led lights as decorations and many students took pictures in front of it . The moral of the story is, don’t judge a dance by what had happened in the past because you may be missing out on a perfect opportunity to have fun and hang out with your friends. Thank you to everyone who went to the dance on October 28th and hopefully many of you decide to go to the next dance! Homecoming is very soon and I really recommend everyone to go because it will be a very fun experience. Your friends can go to and you can all have fun dancing and singing together. The fall dance was very fun and most people there said it was better than they had expected it to be. If I had to rate the dance from a 1-10, I would rate it a 8.5 or a 9. Homecoming is expected to be a lot better and have more people attend, so you should all make plans to go to it. -Nayeli Abundis
