![]() By: Angelina Twist The KSJC baseball team hasn’t been doing to good so far in this season. However, Wolfpack fans will not lose hope because the season isn’t over yet. The roster for this season starts off with Jose Castillo(OF, INF), Joal Pena(INF, OF), Emilio Delgadillo(INF), Leon Osias(INF), Edvin Gaspar(INF, OF), Jose Romero(OF), Antonio Nunez(INF, OF), Edwin Romero(INF, OF), Duy Dinh(INF, OF), Alexandro Barragan(INF, OF), Vincent Back(INF), Conrad Mateo(OF), Carlos Alvarez(INF, OF), Kevin Garcia(INF, OF), Juan Quero(INF, OF), David Luna(INF). KSJC’s in league zero wins and four losses. The rank for KSJC is 1190 and their national rank is 12079. The Wolfpack Varsity baseball team is being coached by Osvaldo Reza. Coach Reza is an algebra teacher at Kipp San Jose Collegiate. Reza was a new addition to the Wolfpack community, coming in to teach the last half of the year due to teachers leaving. Growing up in LA, Reza played multiple sports in highschool, but he enjoyed baseball the most. He attended College of The Holy Cross, and before coming to teach at Kipp he taught at a school in Las Vegas. When asked how this season is going he replied, “I think it could definitely be going better winning wise. The boys on the team now are great kids, they just need to push themselves harder.” The star player of the baseball team so far this season is, number 20, David Luna. David plays catcher and pitcher for the KSJC Wolfpack. David’s skills and effort in the game definitely don't go unnoticed. Almost more than half the team thought that David should be elected for the most valuable player. David is not only a good player but also a good teammate. He is very supportive of others and “encourages us to do better,” said Duy Dinh. The first game the boys played was against North Valley Baptist where they lost 22-2. North Valley started off with a lead that the Wolfpack just couldn’t catch up to. With most of their only points being scored by “walks”. The Wolfpack boys will have another chance to play North Valley Baptist on April 30th. On April 12th the boys baseball team played against Pinewood High where they again lost 22-0. Having the same issue they had with North Valley, the Wolfpack just couldn’t keep up with the opposing team. The boys have played six games so far this season and sadly they lost all of them. Recently the boys were arranged to play against DCP Alum Rock, on April 16th, but the game was cancelled due to weather conditions. There are a numerous amount of games left in the season which leaves hope to the team and fans that they’ll win a game. Fans and supporters of the KSJC Wolfpack baseball team hope that they’ll be able to have a come back before the season is over. Number 3 on the team, Emilio Delgadillo, says that the reason why the team is doing so poor this season could be because of “lack of support from fans and teammates.” When asked to expand on that thought he said, “If more people came out to watch our games I think my team would be able to use the support of our peers to push ourselves to do better.” So, come out and show your Wolfpack pride. Show support to your home team by going to their games or simply acknowledging the team for their hard work. Your support might be one of the reasons why the team wins!
