It’s that time of the year again where many KSJC students are looking for programs to do over the summer, rather than just bumming it at home. Students from all grade levels are all required to have a certain number of service hours, that is why students are trying to look for places to volunteer at sixteen year olds and above are trying to find a summer job. Others on the other hand are actually looking summer programs that do not provide hours but just to experience. Especially the juniors, they want to experience the college life by applying to a program to a school they may have an interest in and staying there for a couple of weeks over the summer. Programs that are available to juniors are applying to colleges to stay at for three weeks over the summer. The juniors get to experience the college life and whether or not to apply to that college. By the end of the three weeks the students will have a feel of how the school will treat them if they ever apply to that college. Also, by applying to this program it gives them a better chance to actually get into the school These type of programs are very important to the juniors because since they are becoming seniors college is something they have to think about, where to apply, do they have the grades, do they have the money, is the financial aid enough for them? As they apply to these programs they can experience how the college is and if the college they applied to is their dream school or not. They also experience the campus, the boarding, how the professors are and how they can learn. When the juniors return as new seniors there is a big chance that they will step it up even more so they can actually qualify for the school and so make themselves proud including their family and friends .
