![]() After it’s first tease back in November, the long awaited film Captain Marvel has released and the movie theater lines are long, really long. Captain Marvel has been a highly anticipated movie from the Marvel fans as this superhero gets introduced. This is Marvel’s first female superhero with her own movie. The movie scored 79% on Rotten Tomatoes, 64% Metacritic, and a ⅘ on Common Sense Media. Overall this was a very successful film by Marvel. The people were satisfied and everything that was expected to be in the film, happened. One main thing that comes up in people’s reviews is that the plot takes a while to get going. People find the beginning to be slow paced and contains little to no action. Going around KIPP San Jose Collegiate and asking people about Captain Marvel was not as expected. Not many people watched the film and most of the people that were interviewed did not seemed satisfied with the film. Four people were interviewed, here are the questions they were asked:
The first student that was interviewed is a Sophomore at KSJC. His name is Brian Ibañez and he had this to say: 1: The movie was alright. Started off slow, but the action caught up. 2: I liked it because it shows how Captain Marvel started off the wrong side of the team, but eventually realized and moved to the right side. 3: My favorite scene of the movie is when the cat eats all the people on the wrong side. It was really funny. 4: It’s a marvel movie and I got free tickets. 5: Heck yeah 6: 3/10 for Captain Marvel The second student to be interviewed is a Senior at KSJC. He is an avid Marvel fan and keeps up with the series, his name is Steve Rosales: 1: I felt unsatisfied because the events that led to the Nick Fury losing his eye were not as I anticipated. 2: I liked the film because it was a different approach to an origin story that I wasn’t used to and I really enjoyed it. 3: When Captain Marvel discovered the truth about herself and who the real enemy was 4: The film is part of the Marvel series and a film that leads to the “Big One”, Endgame 5: Yeah 6: 6/10 The third student that was chosen is also a Senior at KSJC. This guy also watched the film because he wanted to keep up with the series but was very disappointed with the film, his name is Sebastian Ramos: 1: The movie started off good and then it got boring. 2: I didn’t like it because I expected better from Marvel 3: The beginning because the background and intro was really good, but then the movie got boring. 4: The hype of the movie was really good and I wanted to follow the series of Marvel movies. 5: I would not recommend this film 6: 6/10 Last but not least, the final person that was interviewed is actually a teacher at KSJC. He is probably the biggest Marvel fan out there and was really looking forward to watching this film, his name is Mr.Markwalter (p.s go subscribe to his YouTube Channel Film Bite): 1: My first impressions were that I generally liked it, some exciting parts and some boring parts. The writing was a little weak. The jokes were flat and characters talked too much. 2: It’s a 50/50 film. It was a decent film. I can’t say I liked it or disliked it. The themes of power and women were things I liked. Right in the middle. 3: I really liked the beginning because it starts off strong and fast paced and introduces the characters really well. The end was not as great as I thought. One of the characters is really well portrayed and really well built. 4: I try to watch every Marvel film and keep up with the series. I wanted Captain Marvel to be my first review on my YouTube channel, Film Bite by Mr.Markwalter 5: Yeah 6: 5/10 and Marvel Wise middle 50% To sum up, Captain Marvel was over-hyped and left viewers unsatisfied. These opinions could also be due to the different origin story idea that was used by Marvel. Many viewers noticed the difference in approach by Marvel in an attempt to make an origin story for Captain Marvel. Marvel fans are now mainly focused on what seems like the final Avengers encounter in the upcoming film Endgame.
