Tony’s parents are originally from Vietnam. He says his parents came to the U.S about 20 or 30 years ago, around the time his older brother was born. He also has 3 siblings, two older brothers, and one younger sister. He said that he isn’t very close to his siblings. He said that he doesn’t really like one of his older brothers since he can be pretty mean and he doesn’t really talk to his sister. He does think that one of his older brothers is cool though. He says he might have liked to get closer to his younger sister. When asked about his hobbies, he claimed to be a pretty “boring” person. He said that when he goes home from school, he just watches things on YouTube, plays video games sometimes, and sleeps. That pretty much describes what almost everyone else does, which may or may not be why he might say that he is boring. Some of Tony’s favorite video games are fighting games. His current favorite game Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. He had starting playing games from the Super Smash franchise when he was in 8th grade. He also likes to go out with friends. They mainly go to the mall, watch a movie, and eat. His favorite subject in school is History. He says it mainly depends on the teacher and that his older brother had been interested in History and made it sound cool. He also likes math but said it is mainly because of who teaches, which is Mr. Markwalter. He goes to school because he needs to. He says he doesn’t really have any motivations. At first, it was because he wanted to go to college and spend time with his friends at school and now, he doesn’t really care anymore. Tony Ngo is a member of student government. He is the grade representative for the 12th grade. He says that some of his responsibilities as a member of student government are to input advice into discussions and plan certain events. He said doesn’t have specific roles and usually does anything people need help with or what others ask him to do. He doesn’t really have any other responsibilities on campus other than making sure that he is on top of his work and maintaining his grades. Tony had been in student government from the beginning of his senior year in high school, so from late 2018 to 2019. He isn’t really sure why he joined but something that helped make his decision was his friends. He’s got some friends on student government and they convinced him to join as well. Tony said that he would like to continue his education after high school. He is going to be attending UC Irvine in the fall of 2019. He will be majoring in Economics. His parents were very supportive of his decision on where he decided to enroll, and I’m sure they were also very proud. He also said that his parents would not like it if he ended up going out of state for school. Luckily he’s got friends and people he knows who are also going to be attending UC Irvine so he does not need to be alone for the time that he is there, and obviously, he can get to know more if he would want to, expanding the number of people he knows, and the number of people he can get rely on. Tony said that he would be involved at school but he probably would not be involved in student government. He says it would be harder to be involved in student government in college since there are a lot more students. He might join clubs and maybe do some volunteer work if he is available and is not feeling lazy. One club or type of club he is really considering joining is a video game club since that is something that he really enjoys. He wants to be involved in things at school for the possible benefits he could be receiving. Hopefully, he enjoys his time there and makes it worth all the time and effort he put into his school work from all his previous years.
