By: Ashley Melgar Christmas is the holiday people love so much because of all the joy and cheer that comes with it. Spending time with family, the Christmas music, the Christmas lights and tree, all of the things that go into it just brings joy. And let's not forget the 2 weeks of winter break. All the Christmas movies have a lesson or a moral, like if you're naughty Santa wont bring you a present but if you're nice then he will. A Christmas Carol A Christmas Carol is a movie representation of the book, giving kids a Christmas story of Scrooge a selfish old man that hated Christmas. He didn’t want anything to do with the holiday and was always very mean to people till one night he was visited by the candle like Ghost of Christmas Past and saw many different versions of himself. At one o’clock he went back to his early life with all of this accomplishments and all the money he had. But in the end he lost his wife because he chose the money instead of her. At two o’clock he’s visited by the Merry Ghost of Christmas showing him the good side of Christmas and that you should avoid ignorance and the need to want something. Later that night he was visited by the the Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come, who showed him that in the future his money would be taken away and hed be left alone. Him seeing all of these consequences changed him to become more kind towards the people he worked with and surrounded himself with. This story teaches kids that they should be kind to others, enjoy life as long as you can and to not be greedy or selfish or else you’ll end up alone in life! How the Grinch Stole Christmas How the Grinch stole Christmas is a book written by Dr. Seuss. It contains a very valuable lesson or moral in it. The Grinch is a furry green creature that lives at the top of the mountains in Whoville. Everyone else is scared of him because they believed that he was evil. One day there was a little girl who visited the Grinch, she wasn’t scared of him like the rest and she had hoped for the Grinch to find the joy of Christmas. The Grinch later on has a change of heart and realizes that he shouldn’t always be so mean and grumpy. This book could teach kids growing up that you should always be kind and warm hearted to everyone and just have hope. The Polar Express The Polar Express is honestly my favorite Christmas book and movie because of the great amount of joy. The movie is very joyful and is based on a kid that went on a train that leads to the North Pole. In the movie there's a character that's very shy and it seems that he is very poor because of the way his house and neighborhood looks. He mentions that his Christmases are always very plain and not joyful at all Therefore he never knew what it felt like to believe in Christmas and have joy. This book and movie is special because it adds the joy and feeling Christmas should bring.
